Okay, so the study does not tell us what the impacts on women’s graduates’ earnings of child-rearing and gaps in employment might be, but the message is pretty graphic nonetheless: women graduates earn less than men, and the gaps grows significantly as their careers progress. Why this should be so, in a supposedly progressive country like Canada, deserves explanation. More than this, it’s a problem whose resolution is long overdue.
Oh, and the good news: people with degrees do earn more than those without, including people with degrees in arts and the humanities.
